Mysterious Master - Part 1

The moonlight shone beautifully on the waves of the sea late that evening as Jason sat forlornly on the warm sand on the beach. Beside him was a bottle of wine, which he sipped slowly, but it didn't help his bitter and painful feelings. His thoughts and emotions were trapped in a dark trap from which nothing could free him. He had tried everything in the past year, but it seemed that only the sea remained to swallow him and his pain. He drank from the bottle one last time, then headed for the water.

But before he reached the waves, it stopped. He looked inside himself, and was flooded with thoughts that had been tormenting him relentlessly lately.

Why has everything become so hopeless? What have I done wrong? Why did everyone leave me? Does anything make sense anymore? I don't have the strength for anything anymore... But do I? How did I get here? What could I have done differently?

These questions swirled around in Jason's head, as if caught in a never-ending vortex. He felt as if everyone had abandoned him, everyone he had ever trusted.

My parents... They tried to help me, but I pushed even them away. My friends? Where are they now? But why do I blame them? I'm the one who ruined everything. Maybe I deserve this loneliness... But do I deserve it? Or is there still hope?

As these thoughts cycled through his mind, he started towards the sea again, but this time more slowly, hesitantly. The waves were already lapping at his feet when a man appeared beside him, as if out of nowhere. So suddenly that Jason thought at first he was imagining things. The man stepped into the sea with him. He didn't say anything, just walked silently beside him. Jason was curious about the stranger. Who could it be? What was he doing here with her? He stopped and asked angrily:

– Who are you? Why are you here? Go away, please! You're disturbing me! Leave me alone!

– It doesn’t matter who I am. But why are you walking with your clothes on to the sea at night? What are you doing? – asked the stranger in a calm voice.

– What is that to you? None of your business! Leave me alone! – Jason replied even more angrily.

– I just want to know. Come on, let's turn around and tell me everything. Then you can do what you want, – said the stranger in a calm, kind voice.

Jason looked at the stranger. He had a kind, ageless face, blue eyes, long grey hair and a beard. A slight glow surrounded his whole body, giving a strange glow in the darkness. There was an infinite calmness in his voice, which slowly seeped into Jason's soul. The two of them stood there in the sea, the stranger patiently waiting for an answer, his blue eyes reflecting the moon.

– Okay. We'll drink the rest of the wine and I'll tell you. Then I'll finish what you interrupted, – Jason replied, more calmly.

They walked out of the sea. Jason sat down in the sand and the stranger sat down next to him.

– I'm listening. What happened to you sitting here alone in the middle of the night with a bottle of wine, walking into the sea with your clothes on? – the stranger asked again.

– It's a long story. In short: my life no longer makes sense. I'm thirty-eight years old, my partner has left me, I can't see my child. I have no job, I can't pay child support.

After one casual job comes another. I'm also addicted to alcohol, but that doesn't help anymore. My friends have left me, I have no money, no friends. My parents have tried to help, but they're tired of it too. I think this is the end. I have no strength, no faith, no courage. No prospect of getting out of this. Just darkness and guilt mixed with pain. That's what I feel. I have to go. Now you know. I don't know who you are, but it was good to tell someone. Thank you.

The stranger was a Master. He had lived here on Earth for over a hundred years. He taught the awakening humans the meaning of life. He sensed Jason was in trouble, so he suddenly appeared to help him. Jason had reached the lowest possible point where he felt completely lost. Alone, he faced his own fears, the darkness. The Master listened, not intervening, because he knew that if Jason could talk himself out of it, that alone would help him. That was the Master's job on Earth: to shine a light and show the way to those who are ready to change, to those who have awakened.

Jason was a man of pure, deep feeling, clever and intelligent. He was looking for a solution, asking himself: Why? What is the meaning of life? How can I change? He'd been to a fortune-teller, taken courses, devoured esoteric books. It helped for a while, but then it only got worse. Master knew this.

The time had come to teach Jason, who had no idea. The Master spoke:

– Jason, do you want answers and a new start?

Jason pulled the wine bottle and held it out to the stranger. He took a sip and handed it back.

– You have good taste! Good wine! - said the Master.

Jason thought about it, then smiled at the Master.

– Who are you? For fifteen years I have been searching for answers. In vain. Yes, I would!

– I am your Master, Rejnad. Call me that. I'll be waiting for you here tomorrow, – said the Master, handing me a piece of paper with an address on it.

Jason watched and wondered. As long as the Master was by his side, he felt an infinite calm. The sense of fear and darkness evaporated. Though he was weak, something in him had changed. As he thought about it, the Master disappeared from his sight. He didn't even notice.

He looked at the address in his hand. Master Rejnad. He hesitated for a moment, but then a faint smile appeared on his face. Perhaps it was not hopeless after all. Something warm began to grow in his heart, as if a tiny light had been kindled in the midst of the darkness. He felt that perhaps all was not lost. He decided: tomorrow he would go to him. The sea would wait for him. Life might have something in store for him that he hadn't seen before.
